What are teachers paid in Cleveland?

Hi, I know housing costs in Cleveland are very low, which is great. I'm wondering if salaries (specifically for full-time limudei kodesh teachers) are also proportionally low - really I'd like some actual figures from anyone who knows what teachers get paid. Anyone?

Also, is the cost of living low in Cleveland in general (food? what else?) and does life seem more affordable, or does it all even out because of lower salaries or some other "hidden cost" that I haven't figured out yet??

I have no idea what teacher salaries are. Food, IMHO, seems more expensive here. Taxes are HIGH. When I moved to Cleveland from Tennessee, my employer gave me something like a 10% raise just to offset the increase in taxes (although, admittedly, TN has NO local or state income tax at all). Housing is very cheap, however.

well that depends from where you are moving ... NY is more expensive in everyday stuff - but cleveland is more expensive in the kosher food stuff as it cost to import ... grocery stores are less expensive as you can shop at discount stores ... here a car is a MUST ... housing is way way cheaper ... there is a variety of schools in which to send your kids as well as in which to teach - sorry I don't know the salary - good luck !!!

Bump. I know it's been a while, so I'm hoping some more people can now answer this question.

The best thing would be to find out through Jewish geography if anyone knows someone in Chinuch in the area. You could also ask the potential employer what the salary range would be so you can have a reference. You could also be bold enough and call the schools directly and ask but say you are doing research for families that are considering moving! Good luck!

Considering that nobody answered the original post, that's actually moot!
