Yes, that's true. But either way you still have to eat fewer calories.

Of course. But you are less likely to feel hungry if you choose foods that are less calorically dense to maximize satiation.
I had a bowl of cherries for dessert and I would still be hungry if I ate the equivalent calories of cookies or chips because it wouldn't be as filling.
