caramelize 1 cup sugar with one large onion for 12 min.
add 7 cups water and 1 cup vinegar until it boils
add 2 tsp salt, 1 Tb vinegar, 6 bay leaves, and 3 or 4 cloves And 6-8 slices fish
cook for 20 minutes.

Easy and delish

You cook the salmon in the pot on the stove, or do you have to transfer it to the oven?

Same but I add a little lemon juice too & cook mine for about 40 minutes.

How long does it stay fresh? Would my Shavuos salmon still be good on Shabbos?

Should last about 1, sometimes 2, weeks. Taste it and see how fresh it is now and that should give you an idea as to how it should be in 2 days from now.

I know this is a *really* old post but I tried this recipe and it's really good! and so easy. So THANK YOU!!!
