G-d willing we will have an upsherinish this year, is there an organization that we can donate the hair to? NY area, as we will probably make the Simcha near our relatives. Still several months away but just thinking about it. So exciting.

If it is long enough Chai Lifeline will take it- not sure which office to mail it to or all the specifics but call your local branch. There is one in NJ and one in Manhattan (as well as AFAIK Chicago, LA, Florida, and others...).
I think it has to be washed, cut in one ponytail and tied with an elastic. And 10 or 12 inches...
