A very good friend of mine is making a bas mitzvah for her daughter in a couple of weeks. I actually think this will be my first bas mitzvah (I didn't grow up frum) so I am clueless about gifts. I need something nice since it's a good friend of mine, but my budget is a bit tight. Thanks in advance!!

My sister made a beautiful wall hanging/collage of my daughter's bat mitzvah pictures. It was a very special and memorable gift, more heavy on effort and care and less so on money.
Other ideas:
machzor with a nice inscription
toiletry bag with lip gloss, soaps
You can also ask if there is something she would like. That doesn't commit you to buying what is suggested.

I got for my nieces a jewelry stand. They can be very pretty and hold all of the jewelry they get from everyone else.
