I've never heard of cheese kreplach. Are they sweet or savory? How are they served?

Its a minhag by some to eat kreplech in Shvuos.
My mother's recipe is delicious:
4 cup flour
8 oz sour cream
8 oz whipped cream cheese
2 eggs
Drop salt
Combine to form smooth dough

Filling:
1 lb farmer cheese
1 egg
1 Tbsp vanilla sugar
4 Tbsp sugar
1/2 vanilla pudding

Divide dough in half, roll out on floured surface and cut circles with the rim of a wide glass. Fill with 1 tsp filling and seal. Boil in water for 15 min.
Heat a little oil in frying pan. Add bread crumbs and a little sugar, brown a little. Add kreplach and heat thru. Freezes excellent. (You get quite a lot but we share with all siblings....)
On yom tov morning, I put the kreplach on hot plate to reheat. (I triple wrap it cause my hot plate is fleishig)

Sounds delicious. Do you know the source of the minhag?

I believe the source of eating food like kreplach is that the filling is hidden, signifying the Toras Hanistar we received together with the Toras Haniglah at Matan Torah
