My 11 yo DD has language and learning challenges and has been on Ritalin (or Ritalin-type) meds for 3 years, which have remarkable improved her ability to focus and enable her to maximize her learning (with significant support). We still struggle with a lot of emotional outbursts at home after her meds wear off in the evening (and in the morning before she takes). Her home behavior really impairs her relationship with her siblings.

Her pediatrician suggested Strattera, as she says it is effective in a very small subset of ADHD patients, usually primarily inattentive girls, often with some mood dysregulation. The advantage would be lack of appetite suppression and the fact that it works round the clock (once it has been taken for a few weeks). Does anyone here have experience with this? Can you please share? TIA!
