what do you do? $34 is really good. I used to make that but haven't been able to find that salary offered since I gave up that job 9 yrs ago.

I make about $130,000 from one full time job and a few side jobs.

My husband does not work but he does all the childcare and housework. When he was working he was making only about $25,000 a year so it made more sense for him to quit and be a full time sahd.

We live in Israel.
I work for an American company and make about $20k a year.

DH is in kollel and is paid from the kollel, plus he tutors and he has a night job so in total he makes about $20k a year too.

Agreed! lol

Myself and dh have almost the exact salaries that you two do, and I'm sure you work very hard for the money that you make. Wouldn't it be nice to not have the burden of earning so much money?? I'd love for my dh to make enough so that I can quit.

Yeah, me too. Last year I made $140k and he made $5k. Glad he's at least bridging the gap a little!

how is that tough? we earn between us $73,000, we have 6 kids too, paying tons in tuition, not eligible in our state for food stamps on tht either. we manage, it might be very tough. I jsut cant imagine how its tough to manage on 160,000!!!

Can you give us some numbers so we can see how that works? 6 kids and tons in tuition would be like $30k on tuition alone, what about housing etc? My mortgage and tuition alone is more than $73k!

Kol hakavod to you that you make it work but I can totally understand how it's tough to manage on $160k (and 6 kids) and I'm a different amother.

There are so many different factors that need to he taken into account. Is your tuition 3k a child or 20 K a child?

How much do you pay for housing? 1000 a month or 4000 a month?

New amother. Also earning about $155,000 and six kids.

We recently applied for tuition assistance, so here's the main parts of the break-down:
After tax take home: $90,000.

Mortgage: $1,800 / month, or $21,600 / year.
property taxes: $4,000 / year.

So not that high. But now left with $64,400 in income.

Tuition, including all fees (journal, dinner, resource room, etc. ) for 5 kids: $48,000.

So obviously we need to ask for tuition breaks.

Which now means that ANY expense (mini low-key vacation or simcha, home repair, etc. ) is thought out, 10 times. Because we really should be paying the school, instead. And we've agreed to pay more than we really can afford. But we feel guilty paying less. So making it work is a huge stretch.

I have one kid and find it tough! Our work schedule has us getting an embarrassing amount of take out and between higher taxes and extra daycare costs for long hours we're not walking away with much more than a family making half that with more normal work hours.
