What can cause a toddler to shed hair? Maybe due to twirling

Lately I noticed my 2 year old is shedding hair. I see hair on the mattress every morning. And when I run my fingers through his hair I also get 1 or 2 strands out.

He twirls his hair around his finger often. Im wondering if that is causing hom to shed more hair than usual? He does have knots occasionally from the twirling too.

Anyone know?

people shed hair all the time ... one or two strands are nothing - unless it's excessive I wouldn't worry

Maybe he is pulling it out in his sleep. Google trichotillomania.
