I watched Dina perlstien's gifts in the dark and it was really well done. To whoever mentioned that the end wasnt a good one, you either didnt watch it till the end, or you didnt get it! The plot was awesome!

What are the women's films? You mean, women productors?

Movies produced by women, played by women, and shown to an all women audience.

Anyone every heard of a Girl named Helen and know if it's appropriate for ten year olds?
What about Belle and the Baroness?

A Girl Named Helen is based off the book/play 'The Miracle Worker', which is the story of Anne Sullivan, Helen Keller's teacher who managed to teach her communication despite her challenges. I believe the play was performed in Montreal and they did a magnificent job. I would think it's appropriate for a ten year old; many middle schools have the play as part of their lit curriculum.

Thank you so much tigerwife!
What about Belle and the Baroness and Mali?
So hard to buy without trailers or proper blurbs but dd seems to be choosing Belle and the Baroness and it says appropriate for all ages.

I actually did see Mali- it's about a girl with social challenges who gets integrated into a regular school for the first time. Definitely appropriate for all ages and should resonate with schoolgirls to be kind and accepting. I don't know about Belle and the Baroness.

Where can I buy Mali? What about other sources for "frum" films (other than Mostly Music)? Also, my daughters would love to see appropriate films in Hebrew (such as those they are shown occasionally at Bais Yaakov in Israel). Any source where I can purchase these?

Thank you!
Yael

If you're in Brooklyn, I saw Mali being sold at the Judaica store on 43rd Street and 13th Avenue.

I went to The Edge. It was really nice. It's based on Nachman Seltzer's book of the same name. IF you enjoyed the book, you would probably enjoy the film. The video was not on the level of professionalism of Dina Perlstein's or Esther Lev's which were of a really high standard.
