You can use regular cream cheese if you can find it. If not, I know some people strain gvina levana in a cheesecloth [or stocking] overnight and it a good substitute.

In Israel you can get שמנת חמוצה and put it In a cloth over night and let the liquid drip. You get really good cream cheese for less than a dollar and they have Oreo type cookies Israeli brand

has anyone used tofutti cream cheese instead. ds is allergic to dairy. anyone? I really need something yummy for ds. I am desperate for easy good stuff.

I make something similar for shabbos. I whip a whip, add vanilla pudding and confectionary sugar. Then I add pareve cream cheese and crushed oreos. It's really yummy, almost like a thick mousse and super easy. I'd venture that pareve cc would do the trick here as well.

Tnuva makes a cheese called Napoleon, which is a really good cream cheese. It's very soft and should work like whipped. Also, J&J whipped cream cheese from America is now available in Israel, at Osher Ad and some smaller supermarkets.

A friend of mine does this all the time and it comes out delicious
