It is cementitious insulation, merely concrete and magnesium oxide. Airkrete is a brand name. It' nothing really new, there are issues with this and other foam insulations and shrinkage after it cures.

Foam concrete insulation sellers tell you it is easy to access plumbing pipes and electrical wires after using this insulation. Not true, since this material creates a dense mass when cured. Critics are quick to point out that any time you have to rewire or replace plumbing incased in a foam insulation you can plan on spending more money to get the work done due to the degree of difficulty involved. The denser the insulation, the harder it becomes to pull wires and plumbing pipe.

If you are considering it for new construction there are panels that can be installed make it easier to access plumbing and wiring.

I'm anon because a family member used this product on an older home and when it came to rewiring the home their costs of the rewire tripled due to using a foam concrete insulation.
