I want to rent a place for a month, week or weekends, in a vacation area, possibly near a beach, driving distance to NYC, nr Shul, so we can be there over Shabbos.
Only for adults.
Any ideas?

Hamptons, but it won't be cheap. Also look into Onset on Cape Cod, or possibly Newport.

I'd prefer somewhere closer to NYC like Long Beach or Belle Harbor. How would I find rentals there, and what can I expect to pay?

Check VRBO and AirBNB for the cities you're interested in, then use Google Maps to make sure a place is walking distance to a shul if you plan to be there on Shabbos.
