What to do for father's yartzheit?

I would really like to do something nice for my father's yartzheit, but really not coming up with ideas. Any ideas of what might be a special thing to do?

host a shiur in your home ... bring a l'chaim to shul ... make a kiddush on the shabbos near said yahrtzeit ... go to the cemetery & daven ... light a candle

These are all nice ideas, but I heard that if you're doing something shabbos it should be the week before not after and didn't think about it this past shabbos. Any idea if that's true?

Ask your LOR. We were told to do something the day of the Yartzeit.

Remember that for next year. I can't imagine though that doing something as an aliya shouldn't have some impact, whenever. A shiur sounds wonderful.
