I add finely chopped 1 medium onion, chopped flat leaf parsley, generous sprinkles of paprika, allspice and cumin. A bit of harissa as optional. I don't like binders but sometimes add 2 teasp fine bulgur or oat flour.

This is the one I always use:
adapted from http://cullyskitchen.com/class.....cipe/
Ingredients
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1.5 tablespoons ketchup
1 pound ground chuck or lean ground beef
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/ 4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper or to taste
a little salt
Instructions
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Combine onion, oil, and 1 tablespoon ketchup in a medium saucepan. Cover and cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, until the onion is softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low, uncover and cook, stirring occasionally, until very soft, 5 to 8 minutes more. Transfer to a medium bowl and let cool for a few minutes.
Mix the beef, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, a dash of salt, and cooked onion- gently combine without over mixing. Form 4 patties, about ¾ inch thick.
Oil the grill rack. Grill the burgers, turning once, until an instant-read thermometer inserted in the center registers 165°F.
