So someone just told me that 'mtzadhasheini' is wrong and it should be mitzadsheini.... Chirik not a shva under the men, and the hey is not there?

I think she's right.

How embarrassing is this mistake (mstake!)

Israelis please advise!!!

The hey is optional.

With the hey - From THE other side
without it - From another side.

The connotation is similar to the English idiom "on the other hand". Literaly, sheni means second.

I don't know whether grammatically the way you wrote it is acceptable, but in spoken Hebrew no one says mtzad hasheni. Mitzad sheni is the normal usage.

Either "mitzad sheni" or "min hatzad hasheni" is grammatically correct, but not "mitzad hasheni". If you use the heh hayediah for the noun, you have to use it for the adjective as well. "Mitzad sheni" means "from another side"--any old other side, possibly one of many sides; "min hatzad hasheni" means "from THE other side", iow, from a specific other side. The latter is not incorrect but I don't think it's used.

Good morning Brooklyners ave others on the East Coast.... And good day ir night as appropriate to everyone else....

Thank you for all the kind words. But it's wrong. And now that I know, I have to change it.

This is the emotional equivalent of my super proudly making a healthy green smoothie for breakfast, and then going out and performing a solo vocal number, only to meet up a friend at lunchtime who lets me that I have a piece of spinach stuck between my front teeth!

I'm tossing up between

mitzadsheini

mitzad sheini

MitzadSheini

Any thoughts?

Or u can go with the Aramaic version- mei'idach gisa מאידך גיסא. It means the same thing but is used more formally in Hebrew.

Interesting and super clever idea

The only thing is, as my Aramaic is not very strong, it might be a little misleading. But thank you so much for posting!

It may be grammatically incorrect but it's very much used so I don't see the problem.

While this wasn't a problem on the scale of worldwide famine, dikduk mavens everywhere thank you. Grammatical mistakes grate on our ears the way musical notes played flat grate on a music lover's.
