Bh we just signed a lease on a new apartment. I will be moving in a couple of weeks so I need to start packing. Any tips and advice would be appreciated. I specifically want to know how to pack dishes and china and other breakables. Should I wrap them in bubble wrap?

cardboard in between plates - bubbles around them in small stack-able amounts & then dishtowels or table clothes to stuff around sides of boxes so nothing shifts or breaks

I used packing paper (I had a lot that I got from someone who recently moved, and I bought some on Amazon). I crumbled up a layer of paper on the bottom of each box of fragile items, and then individually wrapped the fragile items in paper and filled in the spaces with paper. I also used things like towels, linens, stuffed animals, etc., to fill in spaces. It was time consuming, but I had help with packing and I think it was worth it because nothing broke. It's important to pack the boxes tightly so things don't move around and break.
I also numbered the boxes and wrote a list of what was in each box. This also took time, but made my life MUCH easier when we moved in and had to locate random items we needed before everything was actually unpacked.

Remember that if it's a local move, you don't need to pack as "well" as for a long distance move.
Here are some great tips: http://www.flylady.net/d/getti.....ving/
For example, use paper plates between your dishes - works great and no waste!

If it is not a far distance I would move the china myself. That is what I did.

I moved twice in the past 2 years (to a temporary home and then 2 years later to our newly built home) and each time had the movers pack and move the china and highly breakables. Everything came out perfect. The only things that broke were things that I broke while unpacking.

We moved in a month ago, with some workers still at it. Finally today, the painters, security guys and electricians all bid us farewell. We are now finished! Contractor has completed the punch list and everything.
It is everything I'd hoped for and more. I love it. I don't want to go any place because I love the house so much. I never thought I'd say this, but it was worth waiting 2 years for it.

So glad you found something! Start with packing the things you won't need now like winter stuff and Pesach stuff.
