We are looking for restaurant recommendations in Rome.

We would like to try local cuisine as opposed to shnitzel and fries and we would like to eat in both milky and meaty eateries

Im all ears for suggestions!

Bhagheto has a milky and meaty restaurant and is located in the ghetto. We ate in Milky bagheto and it had local food options. Yotvata is also milky and in the ghetto but bit further out then the main road. There is a great sushi shop in the ghetto called daruma sushi also in the ghetto. And of course the ice cream gelato shop that's got great Italian ice cream. I love Rome, enjoy!

We love sushi so we thought that was great. There are so many resturants in the ghetto area, we were not there for so long so did not try so many. They are not all open all day, so check the times before you plan. Some open from 12-3.30 and then again at 5.30-10.30, others stay open all day

Also, in the Ghetto we ate at Taverna del Ghetto which was all local meaty food and very good: homemade pastas, artichokes, etc. There is also a small pastry shop on a side street which was good.

BaGhetto Milky (dairy) was our favorite, and Yotvata is also nice for variety. Be aware that kashrus standards for meat are different there, and much of the meat may not even be glatt. For this reason we were advised to avoid meat and stick to dairy; if you do eat the meat, at least AYLOR and clarify with the mashgiach the source/status of the meat.
