I want to paint 3 bedrooms (master and two for kids) and am trying to figure out what colors to use. Currently they are off white and I am SICK of off white/white. I want a little color. I want toned down calming colors. Pastel types I think. But what colors should I use?

For now one room is for the girls and the other for the boys but as our family grows if there ends up being more of the other gender I may switch their rooms but don't want to have to repaint again. So need a somewhat gender neutral color. Any ideas?

Pale mint is an option. I think pastel blue could work for a girls' room if you pair it with pink or something else girly- e.g. blue walls, but with some hot pink accents in the room, or with lots of floral-patterned things. Look on houzz for ideas:

Pale cappuccino with crisp white trim will go with any colorful accents you choose for curtains, linens, art etc

yellow, turquoise, latte, orange cream, pale green...

Honestly I think pastels are boring on their own. I would either go with
1. irregular sized stripes
2. a stencil that has a pattern on an accent wall and the rest solid
3. wall paper that is not solid

Thanks!!

I don't need/want funky or in style. Just want some light color (not grey or white) that's not to much and will be more calming then not. Will have curtains and bedspreads for less boringness. Been living in an all white apartment last bunch of years so any color is better then that

Could work a light blue for the kids rooms and cappuccino or tan color for master bedroom. Any other ideas?

Why don't you paint something like a light lavender with a blueish tinge - I did that in my nursery with a gray and lavender chevron accent wall and it is so warm!! A really pleasant color. Mint green can also be amazing.

An accent wall can make all the difference.
Stencils are also easy and unintrusive.
