hi!!
we will be going to friends weekend of sep 3 they live in Indiana.
we wanted to leave 2 days early and stop off at a nice (cheaper) hotel so we can have a mini family vacation,
we are 2 adults and a 5 year old and almost 3 year old,
does anyone have any ideas ? or has anyone been anywhere they can recommend?
I guess we would be looking somewhere along the way like west virgina, ohio,
thanks so much !!

I don't know where you're coming from, or where in Indiana you're going, but I'd definitely recommend Ohio over West Virginia.

Hocking Hills SP (near Columbus) has beautiful and easy hiking. Dayton has an amazing air museum. Somewhere near the PA border there's some sort of drive-through safari zoo. Cleveland certainly has many family-friendly activities.

No, we looked into it, but it didn't work into our schedule. You should be able to read online reviews and look at a map to see what works best for you. Once you choose the one you want to go to, look at TripAdvisor for that city and see what hotels are in the area. The safari websites may also give lodging suggestions.
