I have three kids sleeping in one room, and that is where they all need to be. Two need mostly dark with a little light (prefer all dark, but OK with a little). The third needs way more light. She usually goes to sleep first, so we change the light after she falls asleep. But she often wakes up at night, and then can't fall asleep without raising the light, which wakes at least one of the other two. And in the summer, they all go to sleep close to the same time, and we have major fights.

How can I light up one part of the room without lighting the rest? If we shine a light directly on her, it is too bright, and creates too much light for the others. If it makes a difference, she sleeps on a top bunk, with someone below her, and someone else across the room. And neither of the other two can sleep with eye masks.

Can you create a canopy/curtains for her bed, and then attach a small light for her?

I looked it up and saw a few products that might work, or you may be able to improvise something similar. Just hanging some lightweight cotton throws or sheets around the top bunk might do it.

We have a similar situation and I bought this https://www.amazon.com/Battat-.....belle for my daughter. I found it in Target for much cheaper, I paid under $20 for it. She keeps it on her bed, also a bunk bed, and like this only she has light. If she wakes up, she hits the button, and again, it's light in her bed only.

Our only problem is Friday nights. Every week it's a big issue, where she wants a lamp on and her sisters refuse to have it on.

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but please try to train your daughter to sleep without the light. I have family members who sleep with lights on. It messes up the body's natural rhythms and may very well be detrimental to health.

At the very least, the lamp is keeping her from getting a full night's sleep. Just about everyone wakes up during the night. Healthy sleepers just go back to sleep.

Sorry to be so harsh, but I've seen the bad effects of this supposedly harmless habit. Every doctor we've seen has said that sleeping with a light is a bad idea and contributes to poor health.
