Shloshim - Who do you invite?

What do people do for the shloshim? Who do they invite?

In my community the shloshim is generally open to the public. Anyone who felt at all connected to the niftar is welcome to attend. Refreshments, if there are any, are low key. The emphasis is more on speaking about the niftar and what we learned from their life. It's usually held in a shul or other public location.
