Hi all. Its Sarah Schneirer's yahrzeit this week and I wondered if anyone has the words for the song 'in a little town in poland'. I can't seem to find the words anywhere - thanks so much for your help!

All I remember is:

In a little town in Poland
Not so many years ago
Lived a mother of Bais Yaakov

Maybe someone else remembers a few more lines...

I'm missing 2 lines, but I think it was something like this:

In a little town in Poland,
Not so many years ago,
Lived a mother of Bais Yaakov,
Not so many years ago,
Lived Sara Scheneirer,
May her memory always grow.

--------------------
--------------------
Sewing clothing for the body,
While the soul was still unclad,
Sewing clothing for the body,
While the soul was still unclad.

Sara, mother of Bais Yaakov
Isn't with us anymore,
But her memory will continue
To live on forevermore,
But her memory will continue,
To live on forevermore.

Omg! Big time memories!

I always thought it was "May her memory always glow" (as opposed to "grow")

lol hard to explain a tune, but I'll try.
it's slowish.
In every line of the song (I'm almost positive. there may be a line that's off by a syllable) the stress in on the 5th syllable- so something like this:

(doing CAPS for stress)

In a little TOWN in poland
not so many YEARS ago.
lived the mother OF bais yaakov
not so many YEARS ago.
lives Sara SheNIRer
may her memory ALways grow.

let me know if that helped...

Here's the whole song. It was composed by Morah Blau aleha hashalom, longtime principal of BYA elementary:
In a little town in Poland
Not so many years ago
Lived the mother of Bais Yaakov
Not so many years ago
Lived Sarah Schenirer
May her memory always glow.

In a little shop in Poland
Sat a seamstress, very sad
Sewing clothes for the body
While the soul remained unclad.

Bais Yaakov started there in Poland
In that tiny little store
But with Sarah as its leader
Its success began to soar.

Sarah. mother of Bais Yaakov
Is with us no more
But her spirit shall continue
To guide us on forevermore.

Many years later, for a cantata in Camp Bnos, Mrs Dina Storch added a stanza:

Her talmidah, Vichna Kaplan
Brought Bais Yaakov to these shores
Raising thousands of talmidos
Bais Yaakov lives forevermore

I remember singing this in BY of BP.

Was this composed by Rebbitzen Blau?

EDIT

I see someone posted that reb. Blau composed it.
A classic.

Is anyone else old enough to remember going to a big yartzeit gathering for Sara schneirer in Madison square garden in around 1985? That’s where this song was first sung by a choir of girls..,

Yes! I was in 8th grade, and my neighbor was in the choir.

They also sang 'Bais Yakov l'chu v'nelcha...' and 'La'mir alle, la'mir alle gein.....'

Yes! I was the youngest age there, we walked out for the music because one of my friends was in Aveilus. I'm pretty sure the song was composed decades before and sung in choirs just not for such a large audience...
