For whatever reason, I don't have a pot to use, and I can't use my stovetop.
Can I bake my fruit compote instead? I use peaches, plums, strawberries, and pears. Can I put it in a large pan, cover with water, and bake it for a while?

You can but it won't be as sweet (won't cook up the same way) and won't need as much water, so make sure to add sugar and put just a little water.

I one hear a lady say that she cut up fruit and a little water and puts on her hotplate for hours. probably get the stove top taste of it that way!

Oh, and it will take longer to cook.
