Can anyone figure out what I need to do? Even when all the programs are shut and volume is off there is a static sound that is coming out of the attached speaker. Why? What could I do to stop it? This just started a few days ago.

Is the speaker itself turned on or off? If it's on, you probably have a loose or bad cable or plug some place (or maybe its even the speaker itself). Try turning it off.

I once had that with a set of cheap speakers, I had to unplug them. They would also pick up radio waves and I would hear the radio.
