They are. It's like a kind of candy made out of nuts. Nightmare because my DD is severely allergic but it looks more like candy than like nuts so many people don't even realize it's a nut product.

Nah pralines are not nuts at all. They may contain nuts, but per se pralines generally don't contain them.

Pralines are a candy similar to peanut brittle, famous in the American South. They are made of almonds or pecans cooked in a syrup of mostly caramelized sugar and butter. But where peanut brittle is traditionally spread out on a buttered slab to harden in a single sheet before being broken up into pieces, pralines are traditionally dropped by individual spoonsful to harden on a baking sheet, no breaking required.

used to like peanut brittle & sesame crunch ... back in the day - I prefer my teeth
I guess pralines sound like pecans ... yeah those I do not like

"Praline is a form of confection containing at a minimum nuts and sugar; cream is a common third ingredient" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Praline
But perhaps it means additional things in Italian.

En France, la praline est un bonbon constitué par une amande enveloppée de sucre cuit, lequel peut être teinté et parfumé de diverses manières.
La praline belge a été inventée et baptisée « praline » en 1912. Il existe des pralines fourrées à la crème, à la crème au beurre, à la ganache, à la pâte pralinée, à la liqueur, au café, avec morceaux de fruits ou de fruits secs, au caramel, mais certaines ne sont faites que de chocolat ou, par exemple, de massepain.
The only reference to the word "noix" (nut) is pecan nut in some Louisiana pralines.

If I understood that correctly, it sounds like it's describing what's called a "Jordan almond" in English.
And sorry, but that ship has sailed- to Americans, "pralines" mean Louisiana pralines.
