Hi,
I am looking into this course that dr. Ribowsky is offering.

I was wondering if there are any former participants that can tell me how they benefited from the course, and whether it helped them in their proffession.

I was also wondering if anyone knows of a child that benefitted from her reading program and has seen results..

Thanks in advance!

I personally never took it but it's highly regarded among fellow professionals in the field. If you're already a reading/literacy specialist it might not be much chiddush but if you're a regular teacher, tutor, or in special ed but looking for more specific expertise it will probably be very helpful.

I've also heard that Dr. Ribowsky is very highly regarded.
Can you tell me please where to find information about the course? How much time does it take and what is the cost?

Thanks seeker and tirtza!
So I already checked out her website, and called and got the information.
(Tirtza, if your in Brooklyn, her ad was in the Torah times this week)

It is quite expensive and that is why I am looking to hear more feedback...

I took the course a few years ago. I'm a Speech Language Pathologist. I felt this would give me an edge in my private practice by being able to address the complete process of reading and comprehending. It's a hierarchical approach . Bh I've seen tremendous success with kids catching onto reading using this method. I've worked with kids in primary through bar mitzvah boys. Depending on the child's cognitive skills ,the approach can show results really quickly. Homework is a big component when you use this method.
In short, the course is expensive but well worth it.

Hatzlacha!

I'm not a professional, but I took her course because I was so impressed with the reading specialist who helped my son learn to read with her methods. I had plans of perhaps volunteering in local resource rooms under the guidance of reading specialists using the method, which was why she allowed me to take the course (its not really geared for parents). I loved the course (bear in mind that I love learning about this stuff and had very little prior knowledge so it was mostly novel to me).
as life turned out, I wound up homeschooling so didnt end up in the school system, but I do use some of her methods with my own kids.
as a parent, I highly recommend this method, my son was in second grade and not reading at all, within two weeks of daily help he was reading slowly and within months he was 'at grade level'.
I also thought that Dr Ribowsky taught the class well, shes clearly passionate about what she does and that in and of itself is inspiring, which might be half the battle sometimes in helping kids to learn
