Does anyone have a brislet recipe where the potatoes cook together with the brisket? The brisket recipe I use is with red wine, I don't think the potatoes would taste very good in it, I'm hoping to find a recipe that makes a good flavored sauce for potatoes to cook in (preferably not with onion soup mix), thanks!

Put lots of chopped onions under the meat, mix equal amounts of ketchup and red wine and a small amount of Marinara sauce, pour over the meat, and bake covered for about 3 to 4 hours

Thanks, it does look good, but what is beef broth, do you make it with bullion cubes?

Thanks, it's good as a back up, but I'm really trying to find a recipe that you can make without soup mixes

You can make beef stock browning beef bones and then letting simmer with water

So I thought this would be a common dish, it seems not! Whenever I make potatoes to go with meat (baked pieces in oven with some oil and spices) they come out kind of dry, or just not that good, I figured that if I could make them with the brisket (kind of like when you make a stew or cholent) they would be really good, I just don't like using ingredients like soup mixes ( you can't really understand half the ingredients), any ideas? Thanks!

Potatoes in brisket are delicious! I can't help with a no soup mix recipe - I use onion soup mix, chopped tomatoes and semi sweet white wine. Key to not drying out is to cover tightly.

You can put them in any brisket recipe. If you'll search here you'll find lots of brisket recipes without soup mix (personally I make many different kinds and none of them have soup mix). As long as there's some liquid and you're cooking it covered, long and slow as brisket should be cooked, the potatoes will be good too.

Are you sure the potatoes won't be good? I think they'll be delicious.

I was thinking that the wine would give the potatoes a funny taste, you don't think so?
