Thanks. Don't have any kasha and DH won't eat mushrooms and the kids won't eat spinach. Sad

OOC why must it be knishes? If you have surplus knish dough and people are tired of your usual knishes, you can just freeze it for a different time...

Because I don't have another easy appetizer. It's not that people are tired of my usual knishes. It's that I was planning on making meat knishes, but DH forgot to buy the ground meat, and we're already having chicken and potatoes in the main course of that meal.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well that makes sense then!

I never thought of knishes as an easy appetizer. Knishes take a lot of doing! Gefilte fish is an easy appetizer. Egg salad. Any salad. I only make knishes when I have a lot of extra time and inspiration. I.e. we last had knishes about 5 years ago.

Shouldn't be hard to buy and cook kasha, it's an ordinary grocery item, and it makes really good knishes. Make sure to include fried onions.

Knishes are super easy when you use a malawach dough. Nobody here likes fish. We have salads but need something to go along with it. Hopefully one of the suggestions here will work.

Saute onions and add grated zuchinni, carrots and any other vegetables you like. Season with salt and pepper (and onion soup mix, if you like).
Fill knishes and serve with mushroom or onion sauce.

Broccoli cauliflower mixture

Btw fastest, easiest and prettiest way to make knishes. Stuff them into cupcake pan (like form a tortilla cup), spoon filling and bake.
