When I spend a long time discussing DS day with him when I put him to bed, even while I'm itching to have my own quiet time already to get on with things.

Baking with them. It's so much faster and less messy to do it alone but when I bake with them instead of waiting until they are all asleep they have so much joy and pride in what they accomplish and it makes me feel like a good mother that I can let go of a clean kitchen and even shaped cookies and let them have the experience and bragging rights when we serve what they made.

when I can put away my phone and movies and devote my full attention to them for the few hours from school till bedtime. it's unbelievably hard for me. I don't know why.

When I let my daughter with a developmental delay try something independently on her own when babying her would be so much easier for me both physically and emotionally, especially when I know that she probably won't succeed anyway (because there's always that time she'll surprise me and do it on her own!).
