HOw can I open a .pptx file in PowerPoint

Someone sent me a PowerPoint slideshow, and despite the fact that I have PowerPoint on my computer, it opens automatically in Google Drive, which doesn't allow me to hear the music. I tried changing the default and it gave me a few options to change it to, but PowerPoint wasn't there. I chose the option of browsing the web for an appropriate program and it led me to PowerPoint Viewer so I downloaded and installed that, but that's still not one of the options when I try to open it. Anyone know how I can open this slideshow in PowerPoint?
