I recently ate a lox and cream cheese sandwich, and was approached it has the same rules as fish and meat
Thoughts?

I grew up my whole life eating lox and cream cheese . Last year I found out that there are people that hold fish and dairy are not eaten together. I've never heard of that before. Then I found out that it's a minhag in a lot of communities etc. but my DH doesn't follow this minhag either.

I know some Sephardim don't eat fish and dairy together. Glad my DH doesn't hold that way. I love lox and cream cheese on a bagel!

I believe that many (maybe most?) Lubavitch people and some Sephardim also don't eat fish and dairy together. However, this ruling is not nearly as widespread as the prohibition on the fish-meat combo.

Sefardim don't eat cheese and fish because [what some say is] a mistake the Beis Yosef made.

Chabad custom is not to eat fish with milk, but other dairy products are fine.

I actually heard about this from chasidish people so there are others who follow this as well.

I grew up knowing that fish and cheese dont go together. My husband said it depends which fish, only certain ones arent allowed to be eaten with dairy. I started eating cream cheese with lox. Love it.
I also asked once a shaila if im allowed to bake fish and dairy stuff in the same oven at the same time, he said to bake it separately.

I think you meant to say chabad custom is NOT to eat fish and milk but other dairy products are fine. That is the way most chabad hold.
