We were just given as a gift a spice mix and dried fruit pieces from Machane Yehuda. The gift givers are not drum and could only tell us it's from "the spice guy". Are all the spice stores kosher and mehadrin?

All the stores there are rabbanut if that's enough for you.
I don't understand these stuff but the hechsher in every single store in the shuk (we used to live right there) says בד"ץ רבנות ירושלים למהדרין
Hope that helps

Btw (and sorry, this doesn't answer your question and may be completely inapplicable, but) were those dried fruit pieces cut into little squares? Because if so, it's probably tea. Some of the shuk spice stores sell dried fruit but most of them do sell fruit tea mixtures that look like spices mixed with cubes of dried fruit.

Thanks for the replies! Yes they were cut into little squares. Do you just pour boiling water over them and let them steep?
The only other information I could get about the spice store was that it was located next to "Chalvah King". Does anyone know which store it could be?

Sounds like maybe it was Rozmarin...

If it was near the Chalva King then it was in the closed aisle, probably Rozmarin or Pereg. The hechsher should be fine with them both.
As for the tea, yup you just mix a spoonful with boiling water and let it sit for a few minutes. Some of them are fruit only and you can eat the rehydrated fruit in the end, others are mixed with herbs and you usually just toss it at the end. They usually smell and taste wonderful, so enjoy!
