What is wrong with me??? Increasingly, I feel like I can only handle my kids in very small doses. They are 5 and 7. I feel like I am less and less able to handle the mess, constant questions, bickering, everything that comes with small children. Granted, we live in a small apartment and I really get no time to myself unless the kids are sleeping. I love my kids and want to enjoy them, but it's hard. Sad I just want to be left alone these days.

Totally normal!
Same boat I hear you !
I really think it has something to do with elementary school kids
On one hand they are great to interact with
They have all these questions and ideas
On the other hand the fighting between siblings gets on my nerves big time
I have 3 boys and you bet they fighht
I think it's just a stage and you get through it
I think the rewards are when they are all grown
Truth is I think no one talks about how hard parenting is

I was so much happier when my kids reached junior high/high school ages. I'm good with newborns and after age 11 or so, but the in-between years were, um, challenging. This is why Hashem gave us the seichel to develop playgroups, day camp, and high school productions. It's really a mechanism to keep those parents who don't have a lot of tolerance for the given age group from killing themselves or their kids.
