I was looking at some recipes last week and decided to try a different cholent recipe. Not sure who posted it...but thank you! My husband really liked it!
I'll repeat it here...
In crockpot...
Layer of onions
Layer of sweet potatoes
1-2 cups of rice
a few pieces of chicken
cover with ketchup and water.
I also added other spices.

You can try cold cuts or a roast for something different, as well. or change your cholent recipe. if you usually use meat, do chicken. make it primarily barley. or beans. etc.

I get bored of the same food very easily. So I try to vary what I make. Here are some sample shabbos lunch menus (main course)

Cholent

Schnitzel/
chicken pie/
deli roll/
meat loaf/
lasagna

and kugel (lokshen or potato)
or quiche (parev) - mushroom/veggie/tomato.

Basically any dry food that I can heat up on top of a pot on Shabbos morning

salads - cold meat salad (yum); purple cabbage salad (yum!); strawberry salad (yum!) potato salad; tomato salad; bean salad.
