What are some good inexpensive meat (I don't want to spend more than $30 for 4 people). Please post a recipe if possible.

I really like chuck roast and its usually the cheapest cut. Sorry no specific recipe its a while since I've made it but a basic method is brown with onion and garlic and add water, seasoning, bayleaf, red wine and or tomato sauce and let cook for a while.

I also like cooking that type of meat in a roasting bag in the oven.

Where I come from, "inexpensive meat" means canned salmon. Chop meat runs around $9 a lb. and beef cubes for stew were $11 a lb last time I checked.

Depends where you live... In Brooklyn, you can get various cuts of pickled corned beef for 5.99/lb and delmonico roast for 6.99/ln at moishas. London broil and chuck roast also regularly go for 5.99/lb there, but if you don't live local, my post is moot.

London Broil is under $10 a lb- even cheaper when on sale.

Same goes for second cut brisket.

You need to look for specials in your local supermarket, and see what's on sale this week. One store I checked has silver tip roast on sale. I put pieces of garlic in slits made in the meat, season with salt and pepper, and roast.

But in general, chicken is less expensive than red meat.
