I've been asked to provide a writing sample for a job application (it is for a communications position). How do I choose what to submit?

(1) Make sure its something that was primarily authored by you, even if others edited.

(2) It (obviously) should not include confidential information.

(3) If at all possible, it should be relevant to the industry.

(4) Make sure it showcases your abilities relevant to the position for which you are applying -- ability to research, persuade, analyze, etc.

(5) NO TYPOS. No vernacular. No politics.

(6) As short as possible, if it meets the above standards. Unless its fascinating, and relevant to me, I'm not getting past the first 2-3 pages anyway.
