Scene- DC 6, who has autism, is supposed to be getting ready for school, but is engrossed in reading a book.

Me- I have a concern. I'm worried that you are not going to have enough time to have breakfast.
DC6- I don't have a concern, so let's just go with your concern.
(walks in to kitchen and starts with breakfast ).

Ok it doesn't always work so well, but when it does..... WOW.

BH for leading me to that book and Bezerat Hashem that I should remember to use its techniques

It's available used through Amazon, or you can buy the Kindle edition, which can be read through the Kindle app for smartphones/tablets/laptops or on a Kindle e-reader.

I agree, best book on the history of the planet, changed my house from a war to a relationship.
me: lets go to bed
kid: NO
me: no? hm. that seems to be a strong feeling. Why?
kid: my room is dark!
me: oh, it's dark! Does that scare you?
kid: no. its just that when its dark and I am thirsty in the night I can't find my water bottle
me: oh! I would not have guessed that! Hm. Well my concern is that you need to go to bed, and your concern is that you need to be able to find your water bottle in the night. What solution can you come up with?
kid: how about if we leave the closet light on?
me: great thinking! I am happy to do that for you

next night, no battle for bed time.

It's been sitting in my drawer for a long time. Thanks for inspiring me to read it.

Anyone know the Yiddish word to use for "concern"?
