I recently had a baby and my friend texted me, next time you're nursing please say tehillim for and gave me a name.
I never heard of this before. Does anyone know what the source is? What is the connection between nursing and tefilah?

I assume she meant that's when you're next sitting down, not running around, so while you're nursing, take the opportunity to say tehillim.

She probably meant when you're nursing and therefore not busy with anything else

Only if you've touched an area that's usually covered. I have a friend who has cotton gloves so she can nurse and daven. A woman can daven in a state of undress as long as the vitals are covered.

I asked and was told as long as your hands are "clean". If you touched your body, wipe your hands on a cloth/clothing.

In his book on Proverbs, Rav Hirsch says that the thoughts a mother has while nursing can have a positive effect on her baby.
