My 6 year old is taking 1 mg as well. He does sometimes get tired around 5 too but his bed time is 7:30 so its not the end of the world. It has made a huge difference in his behavior.

DD 11 takes it but I haven't seen a difference in behavior at all. She is not tired at all and still as high-strung as ever. I have a feeling she needs a higher dose.

In fact my ds just started his today. I was told if there's any dizziness to contact the doctor right away, that is not good. These medications should be monitored. Why are people asking questions about such serious questions from total strangers?

Please for the love of g-d talk to your doctor!

We always see drowsiness for the first week of a new dose of Intuniv. Them it wears off, and helps him go to sleep on time at night. We have not had dizziness, though that week he does sometimes seem a but sluggish.

My psychiatrist is a top notch one and he said that there are very few cases of children getting dizziness from this medication. Obviously there are some but he stressed very few. So far ds is doing good. It's the second day. So we'll see. Hopefully it will do him good. I will see what it's like over the weekend because he will be home more so I can monitor better.

It can also be a low dose. 1 mg. For some it's not enough for some it's too high.

Another vote for administering it at bedtime.

The impulse control lasts a full day, but the drowsiness usually wears off overnight.

We are now upping the dose as 1mg hasnt been too effective. Im hoping the drowsiness won't increase. I can't contemplate going back to focalin as the side effects were horrendous.

It was originally created as a blood pressure medication so that would explain the dizziness it lowers blood pressure.

For us, we are finding this effective combined with therapy and nutritional supplements.
