only in harvest season, which begins in June and ends in november.
Wic itself gives $8 a month to be used on fruit/veg, but the program is for kids under 5 and preg/nursing mothers.

There are some groceries in Brooklyn, that if the owner jknows you he can tell (ezer lamazon) that your struggling and they pay a certain amount of your bill.
Ask your local grocery if he's connected with this organization and see if he can speak for you. Sometimes I they want a family member to vouch for you or a rav. I'm not sure the name of the organization. They put in a certain amount of money on your account and the owner tells you how much you can buy for.

I've seen them all over Manhattan, do they not have them in Brooklyn?

That's not much at all. I know it works on a store-by-store basis. It depends how generous the clientele is with their donations. Have you tried asking where you might get more?

Ne, I got way more then $35 my grocery paid. But it was once and it was like $500. I was shocked that they paid. From then on I didn't write down on account anymore. Writing down was like swiping credit card. You don't realize how fast the bill gets till it's overwhelming.
Sorry I thought they would be more helpful, looks like it's not enough at this point. I never contacted them. So I don't know who it is.

OP, maybe there is something in this link that could help you?
http://www.foodbanknyc.org/ind.....ber=2
Every Friday on my way to work I see people getting tons of fruits and vegetables from a food bank, but unfortunately I don't have more information. Maybe you can call some of these that are close to you and find out if you can get just produce?
Many, many hugs to you.

If it's just fruits and vegetables she can go anywhere. And should go where the produce is plentiful.
