This?

If the above in Hebrew doesn't come through properly it's from tehillim 80:15-16

Not sure where it's from but this popped into my head.
Is it this?
Or something like it?

This is the old Yiddish song. MBD' s version has more lyrics.

I don't understand or read yiddish very well. But I did Google what you wrote and found this site:

Okay this looks like the same song, but MBD dropped the last two paragraphs. The song looks like it may be a zionist one, from the the era when Jews were kept out of Palestine.

Thank you so very much. I read further on the site I linked above which included this link:

https://goo.gl/e1gCzd

The story behind the song is written there. Again, my lack of yiddish and Hebrew knowledge is hindering me but from what I understood it's a song that was recreated in 1943 by several inmates in a concentration camp, Dovid Friedman being the musical person.

Please, if someone understands yiddish and Hebrew, can you read the story in the link above and verify my understanding? I've pasted it here but it seems there's more to the back story

here the english translation to the story:
In 1940, after our city Janow Lubelski was bombed, I reached Belzice together with my mother, my two sisters and my brother.
We rented an apartment next to the Dudi house (my mother's brother) and lived there.
The Germans brought Jews from different places to Belzec, and in 1941 they built a ghetto there.
In Belzice there were three Aktions, and at the end of the city Judenrein was free of Jews.
After the first Aktion my brother and I fled and hid in the barn of a gentile. For two months we dug into the straw. At night I would sneak into town to buy bread. We had a kettle and lived in the straw, feeding on bread and water. Like mice.
One day the farmer's sons came to pick up food for the animals. They worked there for a whole day. They stuck a fork pitchfork, package after parcel, and sang as they worked. The parcels were diminishing, until finally we were exposed. They discovered us. We were frightened, and they too got scared and left. At night their father came and called us. We were afraid that he would hand us over to the Germans, but he took a chance: he invited us to his house, let me wash, let us eat potatoes, and then he said to us: "Go."
We had no choice. We returned to the Belzice ghetto.
Before dawn I sneaked out through the fence. I had some money, and I would buy some loaves of bread from a Polish baker. I would move these squares to my brother over the fence. Inside the camp I sold the squares. That's how we lived.
Once I reached the fence with the bread and saw in the dark figures running toward the ghetto. I shouted to my brother: "Selig, save yourself!" And I ran off to the field. I was in the field all day. I heard shots and did not know what was happening inside. At night I crept toward the camp to see what had happened to my brother.
A Jewish guard stood at the gate.
I asked him: "Ben Zion, what happened?"
He replied: "The Germans took out two hundred children and shot them in the forest cemetery."
My 11-year-old brother was among them.
I mourned my brother very much.
After about two months, the camp was finally liquidated.
Fykes the murderer, the SS commander, came with his men, who surrounded the camp and conducted a selection.
They closed about 250 Jewish men in the synagogue. Among them I was myself.
The others stayed outside.
Some men were taken to dig pits behind the synagogue.
All the Jews outside were forced to undress and were shot into the pits.
Pikes killed about a thousand people there.
The babies were thrown in a heap.
The crying was terrible.
The diggers saw how the Ukrainians cut down the heads of the babies with axes.
After the murder, gentile wagons were brought. Together with the group of diggers and a group of young women who passed the selection, we were sent from the synagogue in Belzice to the Budzyn camp.

The song
On May 8, 1943, after Pikes had liquidated the Belzice camp, we reached the Budzyn camp.
I was 16 at the time.
Every day we went to work at a factory about six kilometers from the camp.
On Sundays we did not work. They closed us in the barracks. We were Jewish prisoners from different places.
We would sit in the barracks and tell each other about our lives, our families, our tragedy.
We told and sang.
Suddenly a young man from the town of Zakkubek near Lublin got up from the bunk and began to sing "Look from heaven and see ..."
This poem expressed our situation, searching in heaven for our complaints.
We were all excited.
We cried.
All my life this song was playing in my head.
It's hard to absorb everything at once. I remembered the melody, but the words dimmed in me.
I came to Israel. I fought in the War of Independence. I worked hard.
During my free time I sang in the choir, the Givatayim singing group, conducted by Rafi Pesachzon. We sang together with Naomi Shemer at the Jerusalem Theater before Knesset members and before President Yitzhak Navon.
Our choir went to performances in Germany. I did not want to go. They influenced me to go and told me: This will be your revenge.
In Dachau, near the crematorium, I wanted to sing the song. And I did not know the words.
I was looking for a lot.
In different books I found some of the lyrics of this song.
In the Hall of the Jews of Volhynia I met the director of the library. It was an adult. I told him about the song "Look from Heaven and See" and began to hum the melody. I said to him: "I wish I could find the words of this melody." He said to me: "Wait, wait." He brought a book of ancient Yiddish poems. Said: "That's what you're looking for." There was the song, but not all of it. It said: "The author is unknown, possibly from the Lublin area."
I began to think: Maybe the guy who sang the song in the Bodzin camp was the one who composed it?
From different sources I managed to recreate the song.
That's how I saved the song. A poem from the Holocaust period that expresses our tragedy.
When I heard the singer Ovadia Hamama singing the song "Ana Bekoach", I was very impressed. His song as a lyricist is taken from the sources. I got to him, and he put me in the studio and recorded me.
On Holocaust Remembrance Day two years ago, I was in a high school in Ra'anana. I told my story and sang to the students the song of the Jewish boy from the Budzin camp.
Wherever I go, and as long as I eat, I will sing the song.
If my voice rose and sounded in the distance:
"Look from heaven and see-" - "

Thank you very much for this translation.

OP, I thank you for introducing me to a very meaningful and inspiring song I never knew existed. Did this answer your question?
