There are many videos on YouTube for your daughter to learn how to use the machine.
I let my 7 year old sew with my machine.

I have a brother cs600 was $80 on amazon. Im very happy with it because it it extremely easy to use.I think they have a newer model by now though.

Very similar to mine. Easy to use...
I showed my 8 year old how to use it. She liked threading the needle by hand, not using the threader! These are not dangerous machines. It's hard to get your finger under the needle. The worst that usually happens is you sew wrong.
That's why a seam ripper is your most important tool! I have two, can't be caught without one.

Other useful tools are:
Those small spring scissors for clipping threads I use next.
A self winding measuring tape is very nice to have.
Pins with colored heads and a pin cushion.
A bodkin for inserting elastic or the drawstring of a pouch.
Tailors chalk or marker.
A place to keep thread and bobbins neat.

Don't you find that the bobbins are very loose in these cheaper machines?

I have a reconditioned Bernina. The old solid style I used in school 30 years ago. All basic functions are there. Simple to use and less to break.
Defenetly recommend Bernina

I bought an old all-metal singer on eBay.
They sell some that are tested in working condition, with accessories etc.
A real workhorse without plastic parts, except spool stick or whatever it's called.

I was shocked with the prices. He said the one for 175 needs oiling often. If you find cheaper I guess grab it.
