Hi, if anyone can answer me about this I d appreciate it.
I am trying to see how much it costs to live in Houston. We are considering moving there.
+Tuition for 1 child: about 15 K incl summer camp
+Rent or mortgage: 1000 a month ( is that too low for like a 4 bedroom house in mayerland or young Israel areas?
+Food for a family of 3: 15 000 a year ( ??)
+Insurance car etc: 2000 a year
Do these numbers sound reasonable? What am I missing?
Also.are there any frum real estate agents in the area you can recommend?

Rent will be much higher- count on 1600-1800
Everything else sounds reasonable
Good luck!

Because info might be outdated and because they actually didn't touch in details what I asked above.

Best way to get info is from people there. We got all our info from real estate brokers, principal meetings, rabbi.,..have you gone down to Houston?

Houston is a wonderful, mixed place.
I'm happy here.
A 2 BR townhouse apartment will be around 1000 in the major frum area. Not sure about Meyerland (I don't live there). Keep in mind the Meyerland area tends to flood. It's also less mixed than the other major frum area. Home
prices in my area are rising, but you can buy a good home in the eruv for around $200k. Rent will be around 1500-2000k. There are several restaurants, now also a Chinese one. We now have a makolet style kosher market in the neighborhood.
