A badchan charges by the hour? I never heard of such.
1700 for a wedding is hell expensive.
For a takunos wedding you can find badchunim for $6-900.
An unpgraded wedding night is probably
$12-1500.
Very expensive badchunim who's name goes before them charge $2-2500

A comedian. He tells jokes and sings songs by the mitzvah Tanz. He makes them up on the spot. They are all about the choson and kallah and their family.

I don't think they make up the grammer on the spot because people call up random badchanim and somehow they know everything about each person. So obviously it is made up beforehand. But thanks for the info.

Can anyone recommend a badchen for under $1800 in boro park? The badchen we hired just cancelled and I need someone for tomorrow night

Before becoming a badchen find out about the hours. Then you will realize why they charge so much!

There’s other staff working the same hours not getting that much. Even if there for entire wedding.

True. But he is ONLY working crazy hours. That's why they charge so much.

My husband is a musician. If he is playing at a wedding with a mitzva tanz he charges them extra for it. But people sometimes call him for only a mitzva tanz. Then he charges those people more money then the amount he charges for wedding+mitzva tanz. Because he is coming out special for a shorter amount of time and at a crazy hour of the night.

Sorry I don't know anyone to recommend!

How does that make any sense? It's easier to go out at a crazy hour than to be out the entire evening until the early hours of the morning, including those crazy hours as well. Same price, possibly makes sense. But to charge more makes no sense at all.

Definitely doesn’t make them up on the spot.... they spend hours preparing!
