I am a freelance graphic designer and was wondering how to advertise the cheapest way possible.
Someone mentioned Instagram to me but I was wondering what if I have a business Instagram account and post samples of my work, would that really bring customers?

Absolutely.
Think of it as an open portfolio that is advertised for free simply by commenting on another person's page.

A. It's free for you so you've got nothing to lose.
B. I've learned about TONS of business and stores thru insta.
I've shopped many of the advertised products there since.

My whole business is run off of instagram. People look at my pictures and then message me to order.

YES! Instagram is the best platform these days.

I can also tell you, do NOT waste your time with FaceBook, Twitter, or Pinterest. They are fun places to look, but people just don't buy from those posts. I'm not sure what makes Instagram the place to be, but it is.

I will be the voice that says the opposite. If there's a company and they specifically only sell on Instagram, I'm not even going to bother. Instagram thrives on FOMO, which I try not to cave into. I don't have an Instagram account, and I have no plans on it. I love Facebook! For some reason Instagram has never called out to me. So if I see on Facebook the store mentioned or advertised that only has shopping in purchasing options via Instagram, I'm not even going to bother looking into it. Don't alienate the people who would prefer a website.

Yes. It really does. I buy a lot through Instagram.
