DH and I plan to go white water kayaking next month and I expect to get really wet. I could use a few ideas on what clothing to purchase for our adventure.

A swimdress or outfit made of lycra fabric will absorb less water and dry quickly. I've seen two piece outfits made for swimming/beachwear that would be perfect for kayaking.

Sounds fun! A long sleeve rash guard and a slinky skirt (like that Monte Carlo quick dry material) over a swimsuit?

I've worn a swimsuit with swim dress on top, flip flops and a baseball cap.
I have a solid color dress from this place that came with an optional belt (which I usually don't wear), but this looks good too.

Out of curiosity. If you basically cover up long sleep with and all- what's the point of the swimsuit underneath?

No soggy underwear? The swim dress I own comes with it built in.

Basic Colors doesn't say what their stuff is made out of,* but I like the idea of a swim dress because I like freedom of movement. But if the dress rides up or I fall overboard...would that work with capri pants? Leggings? I cover elbows, knees, collarbone — the dress code y'know.

* Hey Basic Colors, you advertise here, can you fix that?

Who makes a swim dress with underwear built in?

Sure! You can get swim leggings or workout pants. If you want you can even safety pin the dress to your leggings or sew on snaps.

The dress is made out of swimsuit material so it's very light in the water and dries quickly. It covers collarbone, elbows, knees. If you prefer they also sell swim capri leggings and skirts with built in capri leggings.

So that everything I'm wearing dries quickly (and I can go straight to swimming afterward too Wink I don't swim in a dress.).
I know that there are built in options but they usually run around $100 give or take. I personally find a dress easier to deal with and also don't need to invest in something expensive since I don't do water activities that often.

Yes, I see they have capri leggings — very inexpensive: https://www.basiccolorsonline......ings.

Here's a swim dress I like from Aqua Modesta (in Violet): http://aquamodesta.com/aqua-mo.....0a-1/

Looks great Rubber Ducky! I see you still would need something underneath but looks like the dress has a nice shape.

Right. I guess I would also need something quick-drying underneath, unless the weather's really hot, in which case being wet from the inside out sounds like a good option.

I see this can get expensive fast.

Walmart, of all places, seems to be having a big sale.

Do you know if this is a turtleneck or if that neck piece is part of the head covering?
It's pretty but I can't imagine wearing a turtleneck.

I don't think you need to have special fast drying clothing. I usually just wear a Tshirt and baggy basketball shorts. I don't see why you can't wear a long sleeve shirt, leggings and a loose skirt.

If you are kayaking real whitewater, please check with your guide about wearing a skirt. Some services will not permit whitewater rafting or kayaking with a skirt because of safety issues. If it's just stream/river green water kayaking they probably won't have a problem.
