So my son, age 3 has sensory issues. He refuses to wear his shoes (crocs only), pulls on his hair when he's falling asleep and has mini meltdowns among other sensory issues. I'm at wits end to try to find a therapist or program that will help him as we've been struggling with this too long. Can anybody direct me to a therapist or program in Lakewood, NJ or offer any suggestions which might help him?

building bridges/brainbuilders. Brainbuilders is a therapy program but building bridges is a pre-school for kids with these issues. Hes probably at the perfect age for it. 732-833-3723. We used them for years. PM me with any specific questions

I second that. I found Theratots to be on target and professional. My daughter had an awesome therapist!!! They really focused on her goals and guided me throughout, ultimately teaching her to know her own needs and to be able to calm herself down with different actions! She graduated recently (which I never thought would happen!) Best part was they accepted Jersey Care!

They told me that they only provide services to kids with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.

Some pediatricians may give you a letter with that diagnosis. Since there is no black and white with autism they generally dont need to do any tests. Can BB tell you which doctor would give the diagnosis without having to go to a specialist?

I took my child to two places and then switched to Theratots. The director was spot on and the therapist is wonderful. My child is about to be discharged and I am so happy with her progress.
