Need advice. We live in Monsey and I'm not sure of sleep away camp schedules. We need to occupy ds for months of Elul and Tishrei. We plan on hiring a private Rebbe to learn with ds 3 hrs or so a day in Sept. Otherwise his schedule will be non-existent. Chassidishe boys in Monsey don't generally go to sleep away camp, as cheder goes year round and yeshiva usually starts rosh chodesh Tishrei. Ds is starting in a new yeshiva, which only begins rosh chodesh Cheshvan. W Rolling Eyes e're thinking of sending him to sleepaway camp (maybe Bobov 45th). Question is: When are the camps ending this year, because rosh chodesh Tishrei starts so early (Aug 23)? Rolling Eyes Confused

Right. Thanks! Anyone have any other thoughts or ideas as to how to keep ds busy. We asked around about jobs, such as working in a hat store or assisting a kindergarten rebbe. We were told motivating him to make money is not ideal, and he's not interested in being a rebbe's assistant.

He's 13 1/2. Most boys are continuing on to a yeshiva that starts rosh chodesh Elul. The cheder affiliated with this yeshiva goes through Tishrei, and moves to next class after Sukkos. But my son's cheder ends after Tisha B'Av.

I'd think just the opposite - a job will keep him occupied in a safe environment. Do these people who told you motivating him to make money is not ideal want him to hang around at the local hangout?? My son is a bit younger than yours, and his school works on the same schedule as girls schools in Monsey, but on his days off he works part time in a relatives store. I believe it's teaching him to be responsible for the future, AND it keeps him occupied instead of sitting st home doing nothing for 2 weeks.

The new school would not not accept him in Av?
