Are there certain fabrics that sidewalk chalk comes out of better then others? Does it stain any fabrics in particular? My child LOVES sidewalk chalk but he's little and doesn't understand stains and he gets it ALL over his clothes (don't worry- I never make him feel bad about it or make any comments- I want him to enjoy coloring and having fun! :-p).

I bought the Crayola brand chalk, and it has so far washed easily out of everything.

Crayola for everything. In other brands it's more hit or miss what exactly "washable" means. If it's Crayola and it says washable then it is truly washable. I have only positive reviews for washability, whether it's chalk, markers, crayons, or paint.

Plus, their chalks are really nice, great bright colors, and often on sale - I got a huge box on Amazon a couple of summers ago and it's still going strong.

Have him wear jeans and dark colored shirt when playing with chalk.

Thanks, yeah we only have crayola chalk. It's good to know to stick with that brand.

He doesn't have a pair of jeans, but I do make sure he wears dark color clothing.

I turn my kid's clothing inside out when coloring with sidewalk chalk!

It's summer. Kids spend a lot of time outside. Half the time I bring chalk, half the time they pick it up from someone else in the park. I can't be bothered with turning clothes inside out. So it's just Crayola all the way for us.

And how would dark colored clothes help? Chalk definitely shows up on dark!

Yeah but I feel it's not as noticeable if it stains a small bit. It'd be more noticeable on light tan pants or shirt.

You may be right but I think chalk just looks pretty bad on whatever it gets on! Luckily much of it brushes off pretty easily!
